Application
Glyphosate is a highly effective organophosphorus herbicide, functioning as a systemic, conductive, broad-spectrum solution. It inhibits enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) in plants, blocking the conversion of shikimate to essential amino acids like phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan. This leads to disrupted protein synthesis and ultimately plant death. It controls over 40 plant families, including monocots and dicots, annual and perennial species, herbaceous plants, and shrubs. It is especially destructive to the underground parts of deep-rooted perennial weeds. Its wide-ranging applications include agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, industrial transportation, and non-agricultural weed control on railways, at airports, warehouses, oil depots, and power stations.
